MEMORIES of decades gone by filled the dance floor when 180 people rocked up for Evedon Park’s Five Decades of Memories on Saturday June 25.

Five Decades of Memories took its guests on a musical journey through the iconic songs of the fifties, sixties, seventies, eighties and nineties, featuring artists from Elvis and the Beatles to the Bee Gees, Cindi Lauper, the Spice Girls and many more.

Live tribute acts performing songs from ABBA, Elvis and Rod Stewart were a highlight of the night, delighting guests and getting them up on the floor dancing.

Guests didn’t just put their best dancing feet forward - they dressed as iconic artists or in classic fashions of previous decades to compete for prizes. Alice Cooper edged out a 1970s hippy and a member of Kiss to take the best-dressed prize, while dance enthusiasts competed for prizes by showing off their moves to Bee Gees Stayin’ Alive, Tina Turner’s Nutbush City Limits and Los del Rio’s massive 1993 hit Macarena.

Coloured lights, a disco ball and a smoke machine set the atmosphere for a great party, where people danced the night away to classic songs. The event received a great review from the local shire, and everyone from the guests to the staff had a fantastic night enjoying the music.
The entertainment was part of the Dardanup Shire’s Through the Looking Glass, a calendar of events aiming to transform people’s realities through showcasing exceptional places and surprising experiences within the Dardanup Shire.
