White Clematis

The Valley is bursting into flower, it is a great time to visit Evedon Lakeside Retreat, with the South West’s famous wildflowers in bloom. There are thousands of species of wildflowers in the area, making it one of the world’s bio-diversity hot spots.

Evedon Lakeside Retreat is surrounded by 320 hectares of natural bushland, so you don’t have to go far to see the wildflowers. Take a bush walk around the Retreat, or travel a short distance away to Wellington Discovery Forest or Crooked Brook Forest. Wellington Dam is the largest reservoir in the South West Region and offers picnic facilities along with walk trails, interpretive information about its history, and great views. Marked walking trails wander through both of these popular forest areas and you’ll be sure to discover a wide variety of colourful flowers.

Bush walks are a great activity for the whole family, and especially popular during the school holidays. Look out for blue leschenaultia, white clematis, wattles, morning iris, enamel orchids, kangaroo paws, milkmaids, hovea and cowslip orchids.
